Untouched Exterior Conceals "Wow" Factor of Newly Renovated Interior

FREMONT FAMILY DENTISTRY - FREMONT, NEBRASKA | ADAM LAMPRECHT, DDS Although the exterior looks the same as it has for several decades, patients are greeted with a spectacularly modern dental practice inside after a renovation and expansion. The outside of Fremont Family Dentistry has remained unchanged over several decades, but the inside has undergone an expansion, an upgrade, and a complete transformation! The bones of this building were solid, which allowed Dr. Adam Lamprecht to create a dream office inside that is modern, open, and striking. In this advanced general-dentistry practice, Dr. Lamprecht, along with his associate, Dr. Ben Peters, offers general dentistry, cosmetic procedures, same-day crowns, implants, and orthodontics. The seeds of

New Pennsylvania Office Showcases an Exacting Vision of Care

CRANBERRY DENTAL STUDIO - CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, PA | ROBERT KLAICH, DMD; BRIAN KLAICH, DMD When dentists decide to build a new office, one of the reasons is usually growth—either the pursuit of it or a response to it and the need for more space. Expansion was indeed the reason for partners and brothers, Drs. Robert and Brian Klaich of Cranberry Dental Studio, in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania. The pair purchased an existing practice in 2005, and they immediately began to add services. They are committed to excellence in dentistry, and as they cared for patients, that reputation grew along with the practice. Their patient load exploded as a result; however, the practice space did not.

Plug & Play: A Dental Office Network in a Box

Digital dentistry has a lot of benefits, but it also creates new challenges. You not only have to be concerned with taking care of patients and running a business, but also with the information technology that runs your practice. It can get complicated. Dealing with outdated hardware, software licenses, non-secure firewalls, inefficient backups, and unmanaged network solutions can be outright overwhelming. The Answer: OmniCore In response to these concerns, TechCentral by Henry Schein One, created OmniCore, an all-in-one dental practice “network in a box” with components designed to work in harmony. Everything you need for your network comes in a sleek, mobile, low-profile rack that can be easily rolled

Henry Schein One: Time to Connect!

Dentrix What’s the point of having technology if it doesn’t work together? That’s one question that Dentrix, by Henry Schein One, has tackled in recent years. Although the practice management system has had its roots in dentistry for nearly 30 years, its vision of a completely paperless front desk grows even stronger. As technology continues to take center stage in the operatory, Dentrix has evolved to become the central point connecting all the digital elements of the practice. Connecting Dentrix with digital technologies is helping redefine workflows and streamline efficiencies in the practice. Dentrix users have the ability to connect integrated eServices and clinical workflows with their practice management system— from

Technology Integration Enhances Patient Experience & Productivity for North Carolina Practice

TOTAL DENTAL CARE OF LAKE NORMAN - MOORESVILLE, NC | RONNIE G. DAVIDSON III, DMD; JARRETT M. BURR, DDS Dr. Ronnie Davidson II and Dr. Jarrett Burr are a case study in how to take a busy and highly successful general-dentistry practice and make it even busier and more successful by integrating technologies effectively. The partners of Total Dental Care of Lake Norman owned a large, high-volume office that featured 12 operatories and a 3D cone-beam imaging unit, and offered same-day dentistry, full-service orthodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, implants, and restorative procedures. If there was a technology that would enhance patient care as well as productivity, they were using it. But even with such a

Marketing Should Drive Your Smart Technology Investment

Making a significant technology investment in your dental practice is a critical decision; and one that can provide many advantages including better patient care, operational efficiencies, and a competitive edge. This is no small investment, and yet some practices acquire these technologies and either market them poorly or don’t market at all. This always struck me as odd, because buying the technology alone will not generate revenue or create a differentiator in the marketplace. Here’s what I mean. Apple did not market the iPad when the iPad was launched. There were teasers, leaks, and product reviews for up to 18 months before the iPad was released. Why? Because

Color-Coded Calm

It’s probably safe to assume that you don’t spend much time thinking about your supply drawers (thank goodness!). But with a little thought—and a few pops of color—you can take the stress out of organizing your materials and instruments. Check out this quick 30-second animated video to see how the drawer bins rearrange in A-dec Inspire® dental furniture. It’s that easy. Start by assigning a tub and tray color for each procedure… let’s say aqua for crown and bridge, lime for endo, lavender for hygiene. Your instruments, instrument holders, bur holders and dental materials will all be identified by the same color for each procedure. In addition to offering

Rustic Design Meets State-Of-The-Art Technology in New Oklahoma Practice

CORNERSTONE FAMILY DENTISTRY - STILLWATER, OKLAHOMA | CLINT METCALF, DDS Set dead-center between Tulsa and Oklahoma City, in “Tornado Alley”, Cornerstone Family Dentistry is a rustic-themed but ultra-modern, high-tech general-dentistry practice located in the city of Stillwater. Dr. Clint Metcalf purchased the practice in 2008 from Dr. Darrell Sadler, and they practiced together with associate Christopher Leslie until 2017, when Dr. Sadler retired. Dr. Metcalf began investigating options for building a new practice that would allow him to expand staff and technology while also giving patients a more spacious office and a relaxing visit. The office he inherited was established in 1972 by Dr. Sadler, and underwent an expansion in 2002 from five

Kansas Pediatrics Office Goes Wild Equipping Office with Function and Fun

SMILE SAFARI - DERBY, KANSAS | DAVID BROWN, DDS Looking up into a massive, leafy tree, patients at Smile Safari in Derby, Kansas, are greeted with the sights of grinning wild animals peeking at them between the branches. These animals did not accidentally wander in: they were carefully chosen to live inside this vibrant pediatrics office. Joining an existing office in Wichita, Children’s Dentistry of Wichita, Smile Safari is the second location for Dr. David Brown, and it opened in May 2016. Its over-the-top theme transports children and their families into the Serengeti, with animals greeting them from every corner of this beastly practice. With 12 treatment chairs, Smile Safari has grown

Completed in February 2016, the 5,000 square-foot office is bright, uplifting, and filled with state-of-the-art technology and design, just like he always imagined. In just two years, thanks to the striking design, upgraded equipment, and an aggressive marketing plan, the practice has doubled its staff; added an associate, Dr. Shaun O’Neill; gone from 1,300 active patients to 3,200; grown from 25

Make an Investment in Your Reputation

For Dr. Paige Volentine of Ruston, Louisiana, the motivation to update her practice was simple. “I wanted to work in an environment that represents my skills as a clinician,” she says. The reality is that today’s patients look at your office through a more sophisticated lens—and perception is everything. Your physical space is seen as a reflection of your commitment to providing a particular level of dental care. Clean, modern-looking dental equipment and furniture help build patients’ trust and confidence that your dental techniques are equally up to date. Watch this short video to see what a difference it made for Dr. Volentine. For Dr. Volentine, the combination of

Emergency Guided Implant with CEREC

BY YAO-LIN TANG, DDS An emergency patient was referred with a broken tooth No. 9. It had previously been treated with a root canal and crown, but the tooth had fractured. Because the patient lives about an hour and a half from my office, I decided to do an immediate implant with guided surgery. The Orthophos XG 3D CBCT unit and the CEREC Omnicam (both Dentsply Sirona) were used to capture an intraoral scan of her upper arch. Next the restoration for tooth No. 9 was designed using CEREC software. An SSI file was exported and imported into the Galaxis CBCT software, merging both files. This data was used

Digital Dentistry's Bottom Line

Dr. Gary Kaye has been using digital dental technology in his practice for 15 years, from chairside CAD/CAM to 3D scanning and printing, and other technologies. Here, he describes how technology saves the practice significant time and costs, while also engaging patients so that they keep coming back for more. We’ve made technology the centerpiece of our practice, and it’s been just phenomenal for us. Digital technology has improved the quality of our restorations as well as our level of competency, and ultimately, our bottom line. It is very humbling to look at the digital impression of a preparation enlarged on the screen with all its imperfections, things we may not have otherwise seen. It gives us the

Digital Imaging Solutions: A First-Hand Experience

Dr. Rudy Paolucci shares his experience with ACTEON intraoral imaging products: "We have been using ACTEON SOPIX2 sensors and the PSPIX2 Digital X-ray Processor along with the SoproCARE intraoral camera for approximately 2 months. I am a Mac-based office using MacPractice software.” One advantage of the ACTEON PSPIX2 phosphor plate system and SOPIX2 intraoral sensors is direct compatibility with Macintosh hardware. “All three products have integrated seamlessly with the iMacs and the  MacPractice software.” In keeping with the ACTEON philosophy, Dr. Paolucci mentioned the ease at which his practice could integrate both products into their daily workflow. “The learning curve for taking images with the ACTEON products was very simple.

DSO Marketing: 3 Strategies You Can Use Right Now

Whether you’re an established Dental Service Organization (DSO) or on your way to being one, there’s no shortage of market challenges, including industry consolidation, downward budget pressures, the rise of competitive forces, media fragmentation, and the social and digital enterprise. That's why marketing strategy should be at the center of every DSO’s brand. Here are three key business-driven strategies that DSOs (or business-minded dentists) can implement right now: 1. Be an entrepreneur. The time for DSOs, regardless of size and breadth, to behave like entrepreneurs has never been better than right now. One way to be more entrepreneurial is to take advantage of the fragmentation of media. This phenomenon has actually made it
