Our proprietary Planmeca CALM™ (Correction Algorithm for Latent Movement) addresses patient movement during a 3D scan. It’s an excellent solution for imaging patients who struggle to remain still during CBCT imaging. With Planmeca CALM™, our CBCTs can analyze and compensate for slight movements during a scan to provide improved diagnostic.

The #1 disruptor of image quality for dentists is patient movement. During a dentist appointment, a doctor may need to take several 3D X-ray scans to get a single image of diagnostic quality. Often times a child, an individual with special needs, or an elderly patient are challenged to remain still.

Planmeca CALM™ (Correction Algorithm for Latent Movement) is a proprietary Planmeca algorithm that addresses a doctor’s concerns over patient movement during a 3D scan. With Planmeca CALM™, Planmeca CBCTs can analyze and compensate for the slight movement that can occur during a scan to provide improved diagnostic quality images. The addition of this feature (available for Planmeca ProMax® 3D systems – check system requirements with your Planmeca rep), streamlines the imaging process, minimizing retakes while improving diagnosis. The important benefit to patients: less retakes equals less radiation while achieving better diagnostic images.

Planmeca CALM™ is available on new Planmeca ProMax® 3D imaging systems, or as an upgrade for existing units. Planmeca imaging systems provide detailed and accurate 3D scans of patients – children and adults. The Planmeca ProMax® 3D family consists of a complete line of CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) imaging systems with optional digital 2D panoramic and cephalometry in the same unit to meet your clinical and budgetary needs.
